The Beauty of Christmas

It is so easy to become afraid. Afraid of the future; afraid of what comes next; afraid of everything around us. It’s so hard to keep our heads above water when the storms of life seem to swallow us. It seems like the devil wants to win so badly, and he would if he could. But he can't. There is a force of goodness in this world and within us that is much more powerful than any evil and that is Jesus.

The world was in need of a Savior before Jesus was born, however, Jesus was always alive, even before He was born in the same way that He is alive after death. When Jesus was in human form, however, was when we could see the wonderful works and power of God in a physical sense that we could understand. I can’t imagine what the world would be like if Jesus hadn’t been born that night.

We are sometimes paralyzed by worry, just like Joseph was when he was about to be the earthly father of the son of God. Who knows what he was thinking or what the devil was telling him! In our lives, we hear the devil in our ears constantly telling us to go down a path that we might not be certain we want to go. We are constantly tempted, and life can seem like one great whirlpool of depression and chaos. What would we have done without Jesus, who came to the earth to show us love? Jesus willfully gave his life for us and called us his brothers and sisters. It is a beautiful gift that Jesus was born on Christmas, and that is why this day is so special.

I would have loved to have been there in the times when Jesus was born, wouldn’t you? Imagine the Wisemen traveling to Jesus? What do you think was going through their minds as they were traveling to see the newborn Messiah? I wonder what it would have been like to experience Jesus' presence as He entered the world.

Christmas is a reminder that Jesus came to this earth in order to save us, and we can experience humble beginnings because of Him. Jesus came to show that there is peace if we look towards Him and he will take care of them. Just like the line in the song, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” it reads “remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day, to save us all from Satan’s power when we have gone astray,” Jesus came to do one thing. To save us. We needed saving, and we still do. But Jesus is much more powerful than any evil force and can save us if we follow Him.
